Dork Yearbook

Steve Weichselbaum: “I am the middle child, my older brother was spoiled so I got nothing but hand-me-downs and bad tupperware haircuts.  My Mom actually used to cut my hair with cuticle scissors and apparantly bought my glasses from the army/navy supply store.  Oh and the sweatshirt is a hand-me-down light blue from a store called Caldor.  This picture is my 2nd 3rd or 4th grade class photo where they used some sort of vomit collage background.”
You can tell just from the picture that his second album will be much more danceable, but conceptually thin.

Ivan: “1985, pondering the intricacies of a paper-based baseball simulator. Not long before I bought my IIc and MicroLeague Baseball. The dorkiest thing is, I was never that a big a baseball fan!
“Good thing the sun wasn’t behind me, or I’d have set it on fire with those huge lenses I’m wearing.”

Matt: “Using this computer, my friend John and I wrote “Further Recall” (Sequel to Total Recall).  Sadly, that script was never sold but John kept using the computer until 1997.  Now he’s a successful writer in Hollywood.  He’d still be using his Apple III but the printer died.”

“This is me sitting in the cockpit of a BAC Jet Provost at the RAF Finningley Airshow (circa 1982). I still like aircraft very much.”

Russ: “Straight kickin’ it oldschool in ‘83, back when trucker hats where just hats…and home video game consoles kept it real but not realistic. The vetrex video game system seals the “dork” cred, no questions asked.”Have you ever tried to repair a Vectrex? It is not easy.

Jackie: “This is me on my last day of high school in 1988 during our computer class. I’m sitting in front of what I believe is a Tandy (sorry, my hair is blocking the model number) where we’d have to send our commands to the host to compile and it would send them back to our terminals. Antiquated technology even then. Ah public school. The hair is priceless, although in my defense, I don’t think it was as big as it appeared. It was just the angle of the photo. Yeah, that’s it.”

Andrew Stephen: “At age 10 or 11, playing Scramble on my first computer, a Sinclair ZX81.  I still have one.”

Luke: “Me, my Sis and my Cuz gettin’ our Busy Bumble Bee’s on. Quick break for photo op, then back into the game. Believe.”

Craig: “I couldn’t find a photo of me at computer camp, so this one with my assembled Gobot Power Suits will have to do. That Christmas was awesome!”
I’m sorry because we are trying to work through all these issues together around here and I don’t like to judge but Go-Bots were total poseurs.
